Apple Crisp

Ingredients
Crumble
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup large flake oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter , cut into cubes

Apple Filling
  • 6 large apples , I recommend Granny Smith
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter , melted
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. Grease a 2-quart baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl stir together the flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon & salt.
  3. Add in the butter and cut it in using a pastry cutter or rub the butter into the dry ingredients using your fingers. At the end it should be crumbly in texture, but no large chunks of butter should remain. Place in the fridge as you make the filling.
  4. Peel and slice the apples into thin slices about 1/8 - 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Whisk together the melted butter, flour, water, sugar, cinnamon & nutmeg.
  6. Pour the mixture over the sliced apples and toss to coat.
  7. Spoon the apples into the greased pan, then crumble the oatmeal crumble overtop.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and you can see the apples bubbling around the edges of the pan.
  9. Remove from the oven and cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

THE BEST CREPE RECIPE

Ingredients 4 large eggs 2 1/4 cups milk 2 cups all purpose flour 1 tablespoon sugar 1/4 cup melted butter or canola oil good pinch of salt US Customary - Metric Instructions Place all ingredients in order as listed in a blender and blitz until smooth, about 1 minute. Scrape the sides and blend again briefly until batter is lump-free. Refrigerate at least 1 hour, but 2 is ideal. Place nonstick or cast iron skillet over medium to medium-high heat* to preheat. Melt a little butter or oil in the bottom of the pan and swirl to coat. With the hot skillet in one hand and the batter in the other, slowly and steadily pour crepe batter into the center of the pan, tilting the skillet around to spread the batter evenly across the bottom in a very thin layer. It takes some practice but after 3 or 4 times, you can get consistently even crepes. After 10-15 seconds, the crepe batter shouldn't look shiny anymore, it should appear more matte and the bottom should be lightly browned. So,...
